Egypt to Host 2023-24 CIB PSA World Champs in May
The 2023-24 CIB PSA World Championships will be staged in Egypt between May 9-17 when the world’s best players will battle it out for the most prestigious prize in squash.
Egypt will host the sport’s biggest tournament for the 10th time and CIB returns as the title sponsor after sponsoring the women’s 2019-20 PSA World Championships and the joint men and women 2021-22 PSA World Championships, as well as a number of other PSA World Tour events based in Egypt.
128 of the world’s leading male and female players – including Egypt’s reigning World Champions and current World No.1s Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini – will compete for the richest prize purse in squash, with $1,150,000 in total player compensation up for grabs.
“The CIB PSA World Championships is the biggest event in world squash, and we’re excited to bring the tournament back to Egypt for what promises to be a thrilling week of action,” said PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough.
“Egypt is undoubtedly a powerhouse in the sport, with five players inside the top 10 of both the men’s and women’s PSA World Rankings, while some of the greatest players in the history of the sport have hailed from the nation. I’m sure we will witness an incredible atmosphere.
“It’s great to have CIB on board as title sponsors once again. We have a fantastic relationship with CIB, whose support for squash in Egypt has been nothing short of incredible. We look forward to working with them in the coming months and to announcing details of the venue for the event soon.”
CIB Chief Executive and Board Member, Hussein Abaza, said:
“We are excited to sponsor the PSA World Championships once again and bring some of the greatest athletes on the planet back to Egypt. The squash community in Egypt is thriving and I’m sure that staging the pinnacle of the sport here will help inspire the younger generation, who will be able to cheer on their heroes in person.”
