Ashraf Hanafy, tournament Director, summarises the successful event
We couldn’t be more proud of our Gold European Squash Federation Junior event, and see it standing alongside prestigious European events like the Dutch and German Opens, and we can’t thank Director of the European Squash Federation Championship Committee Michael Gaede enough.
The tournament hosted a total of 349 players, including 126 international participants from 24 countries, such as China, Canada, England, Ecuador, Germany, Hungary, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, India, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Pakistan, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, South Africa, Spain, the USA, the UAE, and Zimbabwe.
MATCHES, MATCHES!!
A total of 885 matches were played, with each player guaranteed between 4 to 6 games.
The tournament was streamed online, allowing viewers to watch the matches via the official tournament link.
A spectacular closing ceremony was held, where world champion and PSA No.1 Ali Farag joined the organisers in presenting the awards.
The Future
Participation in the 2025 tournament has already been confirmed by several teams, with expectations of an even larger turnout next year.
Classifications to come soon
A detailed list of the classifications for all participating players will be published, showing the changes in their European rankings before and after the Egyptian Junior Open.
In conclusion
Egypt continues to be a tremendous source of inspiration in the world of squash, and we can’t wait to organise an even better event next year Insh’Allah.
Omar Raef, BlackBall Event Director
“As you know, Black Ball is no stranger when it comes to hosting big global events.
“It was our pleasure to host the second edition of the Egyptian Junior Open here. We certainly made sure to make it an unforgettable experience for all players and families flocking in from all over the globe: an unprecedented turnout of 349 players from over 20 different countries.
“Tournament vibes at Black Ball always spark good energy and delight in everyone no matter their age: a fan area overflowing with fun activities sure keeps everyone engaged throughout the tournament when they don’t have matches to follow.”
