7 Bronze – hard fought for, 5 silver and 7 gold. This is the Medal Tally of Egypt for this BJO 2020… We’ve lost a few we hoped for, and we won some unexpected. But at the end of the day, this edition has been emotionally charged, and excellent overall for Egypt.

Yassim Kouritan and Youssef Salem started the Egyptian train rolling as they took the B11 and B13 titles. Then Amini Orfi made it three titles in a row as she powered past India’s Anahat Singh, winning the first 21 points of the match… Fayrouz Abouelkheir finally won a title in her third final, and Sana Ibrahim made up for last year’s heartache (wining then being declared null by ref decision as she was sick poor thing) by winning the G17 title.

Top seeds Jana Shiha and Moustafa El Sirty claim the U19 titles, Shiha saving game balls in the third as she avenged her 2013 G13 final loss to Aifa Azman, and El Sirty overcame last year’s B17 champion Yahya Elnawasany to claim a first title.

“It feels great, I have dreamt of winning this tournament since I was 10, I have played it 5 or 6 times and have never had the luck to win it and it is my last one!”!” said Jana Shiha while Moustafa El Sirty smiled: “It’s an awesome feeling! I have always dreamed of achieving this title so it’s a dream come true” with Amina Orfi concluding “I’m feeling really happy because I’ve won the tournament three times in a row”.
